The 2010 Girls Maroon were rewarded with a placement in the NPL Champions League this Spring, after a longer fantastic fall season.
They kicked off at home with a performance worthy of the lofty heights they play at. For long periods of time, they controlled the game and rhythm of play, leading to many chances. The deadlock was broken mid-way through the first half and with a goal of the season contender. After a corner was defended to the top of the box, Bella Vasquez hit a no bounce volley straight past everyone into the top of the net.
That goal gave the team energy, and it wasn't long until a second went in. After a beautiful team move, Layla Twiss drove down the wing to deliver a dangerous cross that ended up at the feet of Eileen Gaucin who shot over the goalkeeper into the far corner.
A well-deserved 2-0 lead at halftime.
The second half was much of the same and Fusion scored a couple more goals but unfortunately both didn't count for different fouls.
Nevertheless, an impressive performance and start to a tough season for the 2010 Girls team.
