4 Teams Win Division Titles

Just a couple of weeks ago, our Fusion Academy II and 2008 NPL boys came away from Phoenix as division Champions. This past weekend, 6 girls teams arrived in Arizona with the same goal in mind.

The Phoenix Cup, a worldwide showcase drawing teams from all over North America, continues to grow in quality and college coach presence. A fantastic platform and event, the Fusion teams tested themselves against other top competitive teams.

Four of the girls teams advanced to the finals, leading the club to a record of 22-1-2. The club coaches and staff had clearly prepared the players for the challenge ahead. A first ever for Fusion, six teams over two weekends reached their finals and won. Fusion was the most successful club at the event over the two weekends, a fantastic achievement for the club, players, and parents involved.

Overall, Academy 1 had a very good tournament. The girls arrived at the Phoenix Cup ready to compete. They faced several adversities in group play, including coming back from deficits to win games. They stepped up to each challenge by coming together and relying upon each other causing desirable outcomes. We couldn’t be more proud of their performance and of their efforts. Bringing home the gold medal was well deserved!

In addition, the 2007 NPL girls had a very good tournament. Seeing them come together, connect, and grow from game to game was a rewarding thing to witness. Physically and emotionally, they had to overcome many challenges but were determined to leave it all on the line. Our final game was a nail biter and we ended up winning in penalty kicks. Couldn’t be prouder of their focus, determination, and selflessness. Another well-deserved gold medal!

Along with success on the field, the club held team bonding events including escape rooms, game nights and more with the 90+ players. Overall, it has been an extremely successful 2023 spring season to date.

Congratulations to all of our teams!
