Fusion is excited to announce that we were accepted into the Development Player League (DPL). This League was created to showcase the top talent at U13 and older and allow players to discover collegiate opportunities. It will give our Fusion girls teams the opportunity to play more at a national level, and against the region's top clubs.
The DPL moto, “Nothing Given, Everything Earned”, is in line with Fusions values and club goals. Their mission is to "develop players and empower the person in a purposeful and memorable environment". As a result, we feel that this is a great partnership that will benefit our players by giving them opportunities to become elite athletes with more opportunities for college play.
Our Executive Director, Ben Graham, said of the partnership "The DPL and Fusion share a similar philosophy and approach to player development, which is very important to us. Furthermore, the DPL provide a competitive platform to further test the elite players in our club and opportunities to those striving to improve."
"I love that game days are held club vs club. All your teams play all their teams. This creates a true club mentality, allows for us to hold events each time we host and get the club and community excited for the teams. The general game standards are very high also, something we want to provide our players, and a standard we want club wide." Greg Rubendall, Club DOC mentioned.
Since it's inception, the DPL has helped place 100's of players into all levels of college play. In 2023, they expect to triple their previous years college placement. With that goal in mind, the DPL holds college ID camps and showcases annually.
In addition to the added support with college bound players, the DPL format gives our teams the opportunity to play in the National Tournament, or Summit, held in Florida each year.
For all these reasons, Fusion SC is excited to start our DPL season in the fall and can't wait to get started!
