Each Fall Recreational soccer season has its crowning jewel event, and Fusion’s Rec Program has two. One of these events is the U7-U10 All-Star World Cup. Players invited to the event were nominated by their coaches as “All Stars” on their team, due to demonstrating qualities like leadership, teamwork, technical ability or hard work. The All-Star World Cup is held at Robertson Park on the turf, under the lights, with tons of energy thanks to the players, fans, and music.

"Coaching the World Cup games is such a blast, there’s nothing like soccer under the lights. The music, combined with the energy from the fans and players themselves, really makes for a fun night" said Premier Coach, Trevor Ross. Trevor is one of our Premier Program Coaches who has been with the club since he was a player, he even played in the World Cup as a young player. Although, he said that the event was nothing like it is today, with music, its growth in numbers and ever improving atmosphere.

Our Executive Director, Ben Graham, also weighed in on the fun. “What a night of celebration! The energy and enthusiasm from the parents, players, referees, and coaches was electric, and a reason why this event is a huge hit every year… The event inspires us to hold more occasions like it and find ways to improve the player experience. Big thank you to all those who helped run the World Cup and of course our irreplaceable Recreational Coaches. They are the heartbeat of the Rec program and deserve recognition for all they do for the players, families and club. Thank you!

This event is also great opportunity for players to be seen by our Premier Coaches and Technical Directors. While our Premier Coaches are working with the selected players to elevate their skills, the Technical Directors are scouting for potential premier talent.

Our Youth Technical Director, Marc Beard, was scouting at the event and had this to say, “It amazes me every year, the amount of talent we see at the Fusion World Cup. It is a testament to the quality of athlete we have here in Livermore and at Fusion SC, in conjunction with continued hard work from the volunteer coaches within the recreation program. The event is a great chance to identify players who would like to push their game to the next level with our Premier, FTS and Evolution programs.

Overall, the All-Star World Cup was a huge success and the best way to wrap up another amazing Fall Recreational soccer season. We are already looking forward to next year’s event!
