USL Academy Valley SC

Livermore Fusion SC has officially partnered with professional soccer organization, Oakland Roots. Fusion SC will launch the Valley FSC USL Academy team in February 2022, in collaboration with the Oakland Roots.

Livermore, 10/4/2021 - Following the club’s participation in the Oakland Roots – Roots Recognize Initiative, which is designed to support local youth soccer clubs through coaching education, access to Roots technical staff and the ability to recommend players to train in the Roots Recognize Initiative and Project 510 programs, Livermore Fusion Soccer Club has agreed to join the USL Academy platform with the announcement of a new pre-professional team, Valley FSC.

Beginning in February 2022, Valley FSC, will kick off its inaugural journey in the USL Academy platform. Fusion SC will serve as Valley’s primary youth club providing the best opportunity for players to work their way up to the professional level. Through the USL Academy youth network initiatives & flexible registration options, players from other clubs in the local area may be able to participate as well.

“We are humbled by the challenge ahead but know the hard work and attitude that got us to this point will serve us in our future successes building a USL Academy pathway,” said Executive Director Ben Graham. “This area has long needed an elite program for players U17 thru U19 and one that doesn’t require playing in college as a necessity. This is the model used around the world and although we are producing better players year after year in the US, we lose so much player quality due to the current systems in place,” Graham added.

“We are excited to see a partner youth club grow and we will provide a professional pathway to our first team,” said Roots VP of Soccer Eric Yamamoto. “We hope that many more of our Youth Club Partners take the initiative to identify and to provide opportunities like this for more players in the area. This will help our entire youth soccer ecosystem continue to improve.”

“First off, congratulations to Oakland Roots and one of their partner clubs, Livermore Fusion, for taking the steps to expand the player development pathway leading to Project 510 & the Roots’ Senior Team in USL Championship,” added Liam O’Connell, USL Technical Director. “It was especially encouraging to see how proactive Livermore Fusion was in ensuring the program would meet the standards of the USL Academy League & in laying out the strategic vision for Valley FSC’s path to the Oakland Roots. We look forward to continuing to expand the USL Academy footprint, while providing USL Senior Teams innovative ways to grow their youth networks & include key partners in their youth development strategic plan.”
